Here are some great reasons why getting orthodontic treatment as an adult is a smart choice:

Beautiful Smile

Straighter teeth can enhance your appearance and boost confidence. Orthodontic treatment addresses issues such as crowded teeth and gaps, ultimately giving you the wide, beaming smile you have always desired.

An optimised bite

Orthodontic treatment for adults can help correct overbites, underbites and crossbites. It helps improve your bite and decreases the likelihood of having tooth wear.

Enhanced oral health

Straight teeth are easier to keep clean, which means you are less likely to have dental problems

F.A.Q.

Is orthodontic treatment painful?

Having braces fitted is not painful. However, some discomfort is normal during the adjustment period but the pain is often mild and temporary.

How do I clean my brace?

Cleaning your braces is not difficult but you may have to adapt your brushing technique and spend more time on it. We will take time to instruct you on how to clean your teeth and your braces.

In case of emergency we will see you as soon as possible to help resolve your problem. Patients’ care is very important to us and we are always on hand to give advice and resolve the problem efficiently.

Am I suitable for Invisalign?

Nowadays, most patients can be treated with aligners. Depending on your treatment objective, together with our specialist orthodontist you will decide what the best method to accomplish your goals will be.

How will orthodontic treatment change my day to day routine?

The orthodontic treatment should not affect your daily routine. It may change your food choices and you may feel the need to clean your teeth more often.

How do I clean my brace?

Orthodontic treatment alone will not change the appearance of your face but if this is your goal then we can refer you for orthographic surgery.

How do I pay for my treatment?

Once you have decided to start treatment with us one of our team members will be in touch to discuss various payment options. A deposit towards treatment payment means remainder can be spread over a twelve month period, interest-free by direct debit or standing order. Finance options are available upon request.

Braces (clear or metal)

Fixed orthodontic appliances, commonly known as braces, are attached to the outer surface of the teeth and have significantly improved with technological advancements, becoming smaller and more comfortable. Braces consist of brackets connected by an arch wire, which gradually moves the teeth into their desired positions. For adult patients, clear porcelain brackets are often available, offering a more discreet treatment option. At the beginning of your treatment, you will have the opportunity to discuss with our orthodontist to determine the most suitable type of fixed orthodontic appliance for your specific needs.

Lingual Appliances

Lingual appliances function similarly to traditional orthodontic appliances, but they are positioned behind the teeth, ensuring complete discretion and allowing you to continue your daily activities confidently, knowing your appliance is working discreetly. Our lingual appliances are custom-made in Germany, utilising the latest CAD-CAM technology. However, they have limitations and may not be suitable for complex cases.

Clear Aligners

Using aligners for orthodontic treatment is a modern option that is becoming increasingly popular among patients. These removable appliances use clear trays to straighten teeth. The treatment involves a series of custom-made, digitally designed plastic trays, each slightly different, to be changed periodically. The incremental adjustments in each aligner gradually move teeth into the desired position over time. Clear aligner appliances are suitable for patients of all ages and can address a wide range of orthodontic issues. During the initial stages of treatment planning with us, we will determine if aligners are a suitable treatment option for you.

Post orthodontic care (retention)

Retention is a critical aspect of your treatment journey. We actively monitor your treatment results for at least 12 months after the active orthodontic phase to ensure lifelong results. Retainers help maintain the desired outcome of your treatment. They come in two forms: fixed retainers, which are metal wires bonded to the inside surface of your front teeth, and removable retainers, which are worn at night.
